64 sport fury convertable project

i'll soon have it ready for paint I am getting a media dustless blaster to do the underside etc. what color was the underside painted? was it the same as the body color or chassis black? I know the inside of the car and engine compartment are the body color. the trunk is grey with black and white spatter finish.

Good question on the underside.
My 63 Polara was undercoated but I'd say body color.

my 63 savoy was always garaged and never undercoated an it has like a green tinted dipped primer from the factory still under there.

My 64 had body color underneath, with under-coating on certain areas, covering much of it.

I bought a used 64 Plymouth Sport Fury factory 383 330HP dual point distributor 4 speed my senior year in high school in spring of 1969. Silver with black interior and top. Sweet car in immaculate condition with 38K miles. Paid $825. Car sucked some serious amounts of cheap gas and ate rear tires. I raced a Super Bee with a 140 MPH speedometer down hill on the interstate and we were side by side. I could not gain on him and he could not gain on me. My speedometer was pegged, and he said his showed 135. Car ran mid 15's at the drag strip when new Roadrunners were running high 14's. Car was heavy and geared more for top end. It was kind of a lead sled off the line. I remember racing a kid for money with an old Formula S Barracuda with a 273 and he beat me in the quarter mile. I had no clue the formula S was something like 285 HP and the weight differential. I thought I had money good as in the bank.

Of course tore up the transmission, and spent $330 on getting the four speed rebuilt and a new clutch. That was a lot of repair cost on a $825 car. My family referred to the car as "The Silver Money Sucker." Who cared? I was the shitz the end of my senior year and the following summer. I drove the car six months and sold it for $750. I was starting college and bought a new VW bug.

These numbers are all chump change today. Car brings back some fond memories.

I have no clue of original trunk and undercarriage color.
