64 sportfury control cable adjustment drives in all gears.

As Rodney would say "Can't We All Just Get Along??? LOL..
So Retractable is the evil RED X giver..... :mob: :elmer:

Well as posted, cable adjustment should be the 1st look, I'd have to guess the car might be started in gear if it's out of adjustment. Suggestion would be to have a 3rd helper doing this one a top holding the shifter and the other helping to keep the cable steady while adjusting, be careful with the hold down bolt torquing on aluminum case or may be doing further repairs for stripped threads...

The car only starts in park or neutral I did try to adjust from tranny end with no luck I was hoping it could adjust at shifter end not to savvy in this area.

Nick did you ever get it straight?

Yes..you need to do what I did and reach out to Kieth at www.727specialist.com He built mine from a nice core he already had. I have my original under the bench after my local guy screwed me 6 ways to Sunday and $1,000 later.

Sorry to hear about your tranny whoas life's a bummer sometimes.glad you got it fixed.1? Will the tranny be set to shift or would there have to be adjustments made. I know a dumb ?

Ha! No dumb question Nick. Once you install the shift cable you will have to adjust it. I followed the factory service manual verbatim and got it perfect first time. Started in park/neutral and went in all gears like butter. Wish you were closer..love to help you with it.

Thanks for your help will look into a new tranny when I get some funds.I had covid and it kicked my *** and still is not my idea of getting sick a real bummer. THANKS AGAIN BE SAFE NICK.

So far so good here...I only know of 1 individual that contracted it...1. Your welcome!

The adjustment isn't going to cause it to be in gear in more than one gear selection. Normal clutch drag will cause forward rotation in neutral. Can you stop the tire rotation with your hand in neutral? If it's truly stuck in all forward gears the rear clutch would have to be applied. Its possible the Bellville spring is broken. Or the rear clutch is burned up and seized. Did this condition occur all at once? What has changed? was the trans or shifter removed or disassembled?

Apply the emergency brake and see if it easily stops the wheels from spinning and has little effect on idle speed.
