What's the big difference between a 65 b body and a 66 and up b body? I own a 65 coronet and everything I want to buy is always for 66 and up but never for 65 so what's the big difference and can I make most of the stuff fit and work properly?

They are totally different animals. The bodies were re tooled as with all the chrome and almost nothing is the same.

Actually they are both hard to find stuff for..... 68 and up is where it gets a little easier (or did historically). The good news is that a huge bunch of drivetrain and suspension related items are just as easy to get as on all collectible Mopars.

The 66 cars had the motor moved back 2 inches with a different k member . In my 65 Coronet I wanted to use a 4 speed with my crate Hemi . Lakewood scatter shield shows one from 66 up so I got one and moved the motor back until the Z bar was level . Also used TTI headers that cleared everything .

The '65 & '66 have many differences and many common components. The '65 was a transition year, it has some parts that unique to '65 only.

Aside from the obvious sheet metal restyle, the biggest difference is in the engine compartment. The K frame was moved back and the engine compartment was widened to accept the street Hemi.

Complete different platform. Frames, floors, firewall/cowl all changed in 66. 62-65. 66-70.

IIRC the '65 B leaf springs were unique. The '65 spring used a 21" front segment. I think the '64 & earlier used the 20" front segment and the '66 & later used a 22" front segment. I think the K member may also have been different than the earlier models and sure different than the '66 & later.

Pretty much different but maybe a few things the same.

              Steering column?

The 65 auto shift column is one year only. First year of the column shift but still used a cable. 66 went to linkage.
Also 65 automatic transmission is one year only. First year for the slip yoke but still a cable shift.
Late 62-65 K-frames are the same.

Further muddying up the waters..... wasnt this a rare occasion where the Dodges and Plymouths differed as well??? Only '64? I thought Polaras had a different wheelbase than Belvederes (Savoy and fury too), and this is where they did it, meaning front segment??

63 and 64 Dodges had a much longer wheelbase than the 62 and 65 Dodges and all the 62-65 Plymouth. Think like 4" longer.
Difference is in the rockers, quarter glass section, roof and rear footwell pan.

The only things I can think of that are the same between the 2 besides the common electrical items is -

                  turn signal switch
                  rear diff (8 3/4)
Steering wheel (standard 2-spoke)(wheel only - horn ring different)
front bench seat (maybe) - I know the hinge covers are the same.
I imagine the front suspension parts will interchange.

I think the axle is slightly narrower on a 65.

Are the hinge covers the same on both sides?

IIRC in 64 they are different. (bench seat)

I do know that the fender Coronet 500 emblems are the same for 65 and 66.
