65 Belvedere II that just followed me home

Well,
I am never one to just drive what I have, I have to be working on something !!
This is my latest project. A survivor 65' one owner. Always garaged, Well maintained by Grandpa, Unmolested by the Grandson who inherited it. he decided to sell, so I bought !!
White with Teal interior..... 273 2 bbl. Torqflight, 8 3/4 Sure Grip rear ( original Bill of Sale and Protecto plate in the glove Box with Manual and service records ) There is an red OK Stamp on top of the inner fender... never seen that before ?? Looks Factory...
104,000 miles, engine rebuilt at 90,000 according to sticker on Inner fender. Oddly, Oil Pan and Valve covers were painted " Blue" at that time. Motor should have been Red.....
Plans for now, are to get it running. I'll put some Magnum 500's on and just clean and detail everything...I'll Clean and paint the 14 " steelies, maybe put whitewall tires when I want to go original. Has tiny Surface rust on lower quarters, and two quarter size holes on the bottom of the drop downs that need repair on the passenger side...

That's a beauty and Magnums would be a perfect wheel choice for that. It's up to you but nothing wrong with that 273. You could doll it up with a Hi Po 4 barrel manifold , valve covers and air cleaner just for fun.

Absolutely Mike, If the engine is good and rebuilt as they say. I will definitely keep it. I've already been looking at factory '65 intakes...I actually found a '65 intake for a Dual quad !! that sounds like a can of worms but sure would look cool ..... Your engine looks great by the way !!!

I believe I saw it on Facebook. Did you drive there to buy it? Looks really nice
I did, I contacted him very shortly after it appeared and Said " I'll take it "... Then We talked, about the Cars History, and I knew I wanted it ( short of getting there, and it was a rust bucket ). I asked if he had a CASH price he wanted to be at ? Sometimes folks Say "full Price", Some Say " lets negotiate in person", and some Will Say their Bottom line up front... In This case, He said His Bottom Line, and I said "Agreed". I'll Bring that when I pick it up. ( I took an extra $1000 just in case ). This was Thursday, I said I could come Saturday, but they had a previous obligation, so we agreed on Sunday. He and his wife were very nice people, and I believe he knows, i'll fix the car, and get it back in shape to be a nice little driver !!
I got burned recently on another car, a white 66 Fury 3, Called the guy at 3:00 on a rainy Tuesday. Car had been listed for 15 minutes. We discussed that we both were at work till 5, and it was raining, so, We agreed on an appointment time the next day (Sunny) at 5:30.... It was a good deal, an original 383 car with Buckets console etc etc. The next day, I got out the Cash ( full price plus $1000 ) Got a tag, and I already have Haggerty Insurance on anything I purchase. Told My wife we were going to get it... ( I was going to drive it home )..... The next day at 3;00, the ad changed to "Pending ".... I thought Hmmmm, maybe he's getting flooded with request. I messaged him and said " I'll see you at 5;30... I had an address and everything.... He answers back, Oh, Yeah, um its pending.... I'm like WTH, We have an appointment today at 5;30.. I plan to make the deal !!! He says, Well, you didn't say "hold it".... man I let him know I was pissed, and that Of Course he was holding it, How else were we supposed to meet at 5:30 !!!! Told him "I was a man of my word, and was absolutely going to be there at 5:30 to buy the car" then I said "You sir are obviously not a Man of yours !!!!" Then, he says "What am I supposed to do, My neighbor "Thinks" he wants it : !!! So, you're Holding it for your neighbor now instead of honoring your agreement to meet with me FIRST.....He is a High end restoration shop owner, and A Race car driver.... Not an Old Man or a kid who doesn't know how these things are done......... I still get pissed when I think about it......

I think you made out good on the '65. If it was in the budget I would have been on it. They can bring big money and I've never been at the right place at the right time to own one yet. They have always been my favorite.

Good luck with it!

From the looks of his front Tag...... His is bigger than mine.....Story of my life...
Runs a 440 with a broom-handle for a cam. .....more mild than Clark Kent.

It is an ultra-clean car though - surprising since it came from Oregon area. One family owned since new and only lightly restored once.

Nice 65. I like it. I have always liked 65's. As I always tell me buddy's. I like 65's better than 64's. Then I like 64's better than 63's. Then I like 63's better than 62's. However, I would love to find a 62 over all of them because I think the 62's are so ugly that it makes them cool.
