Has anyone else had this same issue and how was it resolved? Tail lamp works, no juice coming to the brake / turn element. Front left working as normal and dash indicator for left turn is flashing as normal. just looking for a "most likely" answer......

Turn signal switch. The brake light circuit runs thru the turn signal switch.

Do not want to hijack but my 65 has turn signal and running light ..but no brake light I have been over every thing except in the steering column !

renig50, There could be a lot of "most likely" answers but you will need to do some testing unless you want to just start throwing money at it. Get a test light first. They are cheap and a great tool to have around a 52 year old wiring harness.
Now it very well could be the turn signal switch as Darter6 said. They are certainly famous for your type of issue but a turn signal switch is around $100 so a little testing first might help. Starting from the light the left turn signal/brake element is a dark green wire. The rear harness going forward has a connector which is under the left front kick panel. That connector connects to the dash harness. At least eliminate the rear light harness by looking for power at the connector, pin #3/dark green. From there it goes to the steering column/directional switch connector, pin#6, also dark green. If you don't get power at that point, get out your wallet.
Good luck and keep us posted.

If this doesn't give you some direction, start a new thread. There's always lots of help here. You did not mention whether whether it was both right & left or just one. At the steering column connector (pin 7) there is a white wire from the break light switch. If the turn signal cam is at rest, power is delivered to both the dark green and brown wires (pins 6 & 8). From there via the dash harness to the rear harness connector under the drivers side kick panel (pins 3 & 6).

Thank you for the help the brake light that will not work is passengers side .. The turn signal inside the steering column are sloppy and do not cancel by it self I'm going to take it apart and fix it maybe this is the problem and will go from there THANK YOU !!!

Good info from Shorthorse. Also look at grounds, especially if the car has been recently painted. I chased grounds on the Belvedere and finally got all the lights working.
Check the licence plate lights, since they need to ground on the way to the passenger side lights. May have to scratch some paint to get the ground.
Use a test light and piece of wire with alligator clips to ground each tail light housing.

Thanks very much, between you and Darter6, I have a good path forward. and You are right, it will be about $100. No sweat if it fixes the problem.
