I was just quoted a price on mine 6 months ago. $8000 MINUMUM and will likely to go up from there

If Roy sold that car for $38k way it sits, thats about all its worth in the same condition as when they sold it.

I know for a fact of a running driving 1966 Satellite, sold in past 4-5 months for low $50s and that car was running and driving hemi 4 spd. It was also an HP2 emblem car.
Not a show car by any means , But a real deal hemi 4spd in good drive in a great color combo.


Be a neat car to just get it back on the road / but realistically Mid $50s as is aint gonna happen

In the spring Haggerty had my 66 Hemi Satellite convertible #3 condition at $95k+/-. Now it's $75k +/- prices change fast. Think my car is a little better than a 3. The NOS parts I have will save a buyer a lot of time=$. As said OP's needs $4k to get it to a driver.

Yup: It would take quite a bit of cash to get the subject project hardtop up to the condition of your convertible. Much more than what it seems like it would. A lot of us that have built several cars know that it adds up in a hurry. Think radiator, carbs, exhaust, clutch system to name a few.
When you go to "throw it all together", reality will set in in a hurry.
I do really like the project 66, I just hope it ends up with an owner that will give it the love it deserves, but a lot of these cars just get flipped for profit and just degenerate in condition and get parts lost over the years of neglect.
 
If it is original paint and the interior looks as good, $5000 and a good detailing would have you guys gushing over the survivor HP2 car. Not every car deserves or needs a nut and bolt restoration.
Trying to help the new member, I asked if the paint was original. If so, it might be polished and good to go. They needed to be asked more about the rust. if the only rust was the flaking paint on the rockers, it is still an easy fix down low and not expensive if you do your own work. Reading between the lines, the car loosened bearings years ago, the broken motor torn down and forgotten and along with the parts, parked inside. The motor is in parts, so the cost to assemble depends on mileage and how many of the original parts remain. If low mileage and everything was in the garage, a ra-ring kit and hone could have it running. I would ask the machine shop to take it easy on the paint if they could.

I didn't think it was allowed to comment on For Sale ads or I would have offered help to improve the listing. Instead, the newbie was attacked. Now it's selling on flakebook when we might have convinced him or her that they could, with the help of friendly members, fix and drive this gem in the rough they probably inherited.

forget the cost of the engine rebuild, 4 grand won't even come close to covering the cost of the "little things" it will no doubt need; gas tank, tires, brakes, radiator recore (if needed), hoses, belts, wires, water pump, fuel pump, clutch, shocks, rebuilding of front suspension, etc.
 
Exactly. Then what happens if you find the main saddles in the block are cracked like a lot of 66's were. These Hemicars weren't idled around like a 318 car was.
No one with experience and a sense of reality is going to do a buy-in at $50kish for a not running, blown apart with likely has problems project and think they are going to have a driver after spending a few thousand on it. If this car was for sale running and driving at the asking price it would still have trouble selling.
Listen to people that have actually owned one of these cars. I had a Dodge version. I don't hate the cars but if you're going to buy one you better do your homework.
If a person thinks it's a fair deal, I challenge them to buy it, get it running and driving and then sell it at $5k above the current asking price. Please document it on the forum.

What no on B body realize after 53 years in automotive. Self-employments 35 years of boring honing cylinder work 426 HEMI 426 Max Wedge 440 and my favorite the 343 HP 383. Riverside, Ontario speedway. Like I said a thousand and a 1/2 bore taper on a std block. AS i said this is a good diver car not a trailer Queen.
 
Wait, it doesnt even run? No guarantee all the parts are there? More like 35k or so, depending on what is missing when you take inventory. Guys think you just bolt this crap together and boom, you've got a complete hemi car running and driving, phffft, after 15k in machine work and all the missing parts. Then it still needs the body restored. Rather buy a nice one for 60 or 70k, they come up occasionally.

I understand where you're coming from. And I am not trying to be an ***. Just be realistic as best I can
But if that engine spun a bearing . Thats machine work on crank and rods AT A MINIMUM.
I've not priced complete gasket set for ST hemi. But I did buy a set of valve cover gaskets last year. They alone were $50

You and I both know $4000 isnt gonna get this car on the road and be right

Could you do it just to flip it? Maybe!!!
But any potential buyer aint gonna be happy when he finds on its halfassed

Does it need interior work ?
Exhaust there ?, Theres $500 IF you can find someone who can and will do it for that $$$
Radiator Ok ? Theres $1000
Tires ? Another $500 for cheapies
Ft suspension and or brakes need work ? $1000 - $1500 for a decent kit

Could you get mid $50s out of this? Maybe if and only if you find someone who has no idea what they're getting themselves into. And not many hemi car buyers fit that bill

Sure you can make it a driver with body and paint the way it is but you ain't putting a Hemi together for 4 or 5 grand, let alone getting a car that was stuffed away for decades back to driving condition in that amount that was painted White for a reason.
 
The first line reads. New to me 66 HEMI car 4 speed Block is date 10/65 warranty. Trans and Dana is original to car yellow with green interior. This is a 4 speed car. The 4 speed is original to the car. The crank is really nice never spin a bearing. I think it may be a factory .010/.010. I will stop read comments on this website and work on the car keep all the receipt and post when completed. This is a really nice.
