'67 HP exhaust manifolds

I TOTALLY agree with the above. If you're gonna choke it, why build it in the first place. Besides, headers were a "day two" mod along with wheels back in the day so unless its a complete resto, they're pretty much expected under any hood.

You'll be disappointed. I don't care what Andyf was able to do, for the average and above average fellow it ain't happening. I'm not saying it can't be done but factory appreciating stock tire cars, Andyf and all the pros on moparts etc etc are still leaving power on the table and for the average or above average pump gas garage guy it's just too much. Don't get me wrong I had a 446 inch edelbrock headed 68 charger that would fry the tires in any gear on street tires with ported hp manifolds but even then I knew what power I was giving up. Dyno me this dyno me that I'm talking about what I've done and I've experienced not read about.

To each their own brother I'm just hear to tell you my experience.

This is a stroker, h beam rod, 1/16 ring pack, arp2000 rod bolt 438 inch low deck. It's a turd cuz of the stock manifolds and tiny carb...i built it for a guy. Looks stock, but man what a runner it could be with a few changes...

Bold statement, but I appreciate that you shared your experience.

I won't argue that using the stock manifolds will lose power...that's a given. I'm interested to see how far I can take the car with this setup, I can always change it later. Swapping in a pair of headers is easy and can be done in an afternoon. In fact, I already have a pair of headers to do just that if I feel the need. Maybe I will be disappointed, but I won't know till I try. Also I believe my expectations are realistic so the likelihood of that is small.

I'm not building expecting to run in the FAST category or click off mid to low 11 second passes. I building it as a project with my Dad...a cruiser with a little extra grunt that I can hop in and drive 300 miles to Mopar Nationals if I feel like it...a car I can load up my wife and dogs and hit the drive in on a summer night. Sure I can do all that with the stock 383, but where's the fun in that?

I'd be lying if I didn't say part of the reason I want to build it this way to start is because most people think this way. The fact that headers are expected is exactly the reason I don't want them there...at least for now.

Don't get me wrong if you know the facts before you start and are up for a challenge the I say go for it.

I'd rather stare at rusty chunks of cast iron believe it or not because I did so since 1978. But my headers will perform

This isn't my car and it runs 11s this is how mine will look except I'll have headers and hidden ignition

Not my car just refernce

Also just so you are aware, having had all the manifolds in my own hand, the 67 driver side manifold sits about an inch up and taller at the top arch it is a little more upswept if you will. Have to have a very good eye to see it and be an even more weirdo, like I am, to actually give a ****.

They rusted for sure! I remember walking thru the showroom looking at new Mopars(66-70) and they were rusty brand new! Hey, who cares.at least they are real metal cars.

Looks good. I'll be doing the same with hidden ignition upgrades but with mainfolds...for now. Haha.

A little rust never hurt anyone...just adds character.

The cool part of seeing the dealerships back then were the huge stacks of Road wheels! The cars would come in on Trailers, and Trucks loaded with wheels would follow. The salesmen would set up a set in the delivery area hoping to sell them to new Buyers. Which is why although the option was on window stickers if ordered, many more left with that new car for an additional 50 Bucks!
