Hey Guys. Just wanted to get some opinions. I love the looks, color, interior...etc... BUT Motor, Trans & Rear are non-matching. Being sold by MuscleCarsForSaleInc.com. Anyone ever buy or visit these guys? Is it really worth what they are asking being a non #'s matching car?

https://fortmyers.craigslist.org/chl/cto/6024534317.html

Thanks in advance,
Roger

My thoughts as well but man am I dying to get one in this color as well as interior with center console. Spring is coming and I'd love to be ready to roll. Gotta stay focused and my feet on the ground which is why I love this forum.

Chargers bring a lot of money. That being said, there are lots of things wrong with this car.69' gas cap and seats. what is the engine? it looks like a late 70's exhaust manifold. . The paint is bunged up along the sail panel. Bondo? I have a feeling a close up look will not Improve the paint job. I can't be sure by the pictures, but the dash also looks like a 69'. The decals are not straight, the body parts are also suspect. Little things here I know, but little things can hide big things. Not 44k.

Seems high for a non numbers matching and as Monaco said it looks to have parts from different years as well. You got a couple grand in interior work needing to be done, who knows what's up with that paint. Looks like the photos have been edited with some sort of filter as well.

Thing already needs an alignment and you haven't even driven it yet.... Or maybe new ball joints , bushings....
If the 20 dollar chrome Edelbrock valve covers are any indication........

Like others have said Chargers bring TOP DOLLAR. I can tell you last summer I walked away from a 1968 Charger R/T that needed quite a bit of TLC, but was numbers matching and over all in good condition that the seller kept throwing out a number "around 44 thousand". Forum members here had an opinion that it was a "mid to high 20s car". That car sold for $38,900 to an 'investor' according to the seller.

I also walked away from a total basket case, barely running 1969 Charger 383 last fall that needed EVERYTHING that eventually sold for $22,000.

If you really have your heart set on a Charger, expect to pay a large amount. If you really like this car, try to get it for 'low 30s' and expect to put another 10K into it over the next few years.

Or wait until the bubble finally bursts and there will be all sorts of Charger out there for mid 20s. When that will happen is anyone's guess.

Good Luck in your search.

These guys that restore these cars should have at least the minimum knowledge of how they looked when new. This car has "chevy Guy" all over it.

Thanks Guys! And so the search continues....

I'm trying but man is it hard, LOL! Yep, looking for the excellent advice from everyone here to avoid any costly headaches!

Keep the faith! one will pop up. But, before you jump, ask someone here about it.Lol

Roger, You may need to consider the price these cars sell for and my opinion is contact RC in a PM and discuss this with him as he knows these cars very well. I think in your price range you may have to deal with some flaws. I say some and flaws but by that i dont mean shoddy body work or extensive rot. A non numbers matching car is not important and in fact may be a plus for you hence the lower price asked. Again i will say and its only my opinion you have to commit to getting on a plane or driving a great distance to see any car as you need to see them in person. A picture know matter how many how many close ups just does not cut it. The other option would be to find a reliable service that will inspect a given car. I personally would not ask anyone to look at a car with a asking price in the tens of thousands of dollars.---Best of luck

I do not need to see this car in person to give my opinion....The pictures tell enough. BONDO BUCKET!

Ohh my gosh the panel replacement is terrible....The trunk pan alone took more thought and work to install it wrong. Than to do it right.....

Has the wonderful filled rear corners...RC loves that crap!

Electrical nightmare due to some jacked up aftermarket harness from the firewall...

Rear windshield stainless corners are installed backwards and glued in some way....also the paint chips above the passenger side inner sail.....

Not worth 44k or even 34k........you will pay more the longer you keep this ride...aka Repaint!

For 30g's......I would be all over it...(if it checks out) & if it does not...
Be prepared to walk away.
If you feel like you are trying to make the deal come together & cannot, go with your gut instinct and leave that one to burn somebody who’s not as smart.
if you agree,Ask to see a copy of the title and be wary of vehicles whose owner of record is not the person you are dealing with!!!!!!! If the sellers name is not on the
the title!!!!, he should be able to produce a signed Bill of Sale from the previous owner showing that he legally acquired the car.

I'm not going to give an opinion on the price for, this car. But I will say this is an awfully tough crowd. I've yet to see a car come up on here that's done - and not many that aren't done - where the opinion crowd doesn't just tear it to pieces and never validates the asking price. It's almost always way lower than what the guy is asking. I often wonder what the,FBBO crew generally think their own cars are worth. I'm no Charger expert but I also don't think this car is such a "pile". It's no wonder the prices of done cars are dropping if FBBO is representative of the general public. Every time a guy comes on as a newbie his car is a dream machine - every time someone is selling off the common sell sites like cl, eBay, or sites specific to muscle cars - it's not worth the tires it's rolling on..... I'm just curious about why that is. I've only been a member for 3 years and do not have the expertise a lot of the guys do - but it just doesn't add up for me as it seems so consistent a pattern. I'm sure this will generate some comments - but the guy looking seems to have already checked out on the car visa vie the opinions given. I really am curious about this....

I'm no Charger expert
Hence, is why you do not understand.......I have restored 4 chargers and stripped apart probably 30-40......

When it comes to rust buckets chargers are number one in that list.....When it comes to installing panels incorrectly chargers are number one on that list....when it comes to bondo buckets we'll you get it now right?

There are key areas on chargers that give away the degree of bondo. The main key area on this car is the rear dutchman panel and the panel replacement. That speaks volumes to the type of paint job your getting....I bet if you tested the paint thickness on this it would be triple the manufactures spec on mils.....Thick bodywork/paint, hot sun and elements you will experience the horror of botched paint job....Then you can whip out another 15k just to redo the exterior....So that 35k car turns into a 50k and thats not including anything else needed....

BTW charger prices have not dropped since I do not know when......and to elude that FBBO is the root cause...Why don't you take yourself over to http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index and post this car over there and see what those guys do to this car...Man if you think we are the root of all evil I cannot imagine what you would say about them. BTW the assessments they give over there are spot on....very similar to the ones here.

If your only buying it to drive the Sh## out of it and don't care about future paint issues and possible mechanical/electrical problems then it is that persons type of car.....

Moparnation, is it that the body lines are not as sharpe or crisp to use another word as they should be? Would that be indicator that the car is bonded up? My car looked like that and after it was media blasted and eventually repainted it was obvious even to a non auto body person.
I do have to agree with GetX that this can be a tough crowd but maybe that can be a help with some more experienced guys having a better eye for some flaws.
