OK, I started my first MOPAR restoration! The car arrived Aug of last year and everything I expected. I knew this was going to be time consuming and very expensive. Thats probably why I volunteered to head back over seas to make some money for a few week.
The car had a 71 440 (non HP) with a dual 4bl intake (from an early 60's engine). I am not going back 100% orginal, but I want to put a 68 HP back into it.
Everything rear of the rear wheel wells will need to be replaced. I ordered all AMD stuff from 521 Resto.
I have pretty much stripped the car down and now need to get it media blasted. So far I have one quote for between $800 to 1200. which will include primer.
ok, this is prob long enough for a first post!
I will try and upload pics! I LOVE THIS CAR! obviously more then I love my money!

'68s are my favorite too. Welcome to the site from the Motor City! If I haven't already said that. What are your plans for the build?

Welcome from VA Beach!
I have been looking for a nice 68 like that for a long time. Did you get it locally?

@Detmatt- Plan on going Blk on Blk w/ Red R/t stripes, a D440 HP w/727, swap front drums out w/ rotors, magnum 500 wheels.

@71Chally- found it on ebay and had to have it shipped from Iowa! Are you working on that 72 RR now?

Well you found a nice project! Yes I am working on the 72 now and a few other mopars.

black on black???? do you know how fantastic a gold car is? please rethink and don't be like every other person who decides to paint the car black.

find some pictures of gold cars.

I wish you good luck also, the 68 was always my favorite one myself, something about those tail lights! Please keep us updated, im one of the self admitting resto junkies here....

@V-Code, I would paint it gold if it was a #'s maching car, but its not so I'm going to paint it to match my 09 Charger R/T. Plus its only paint, I can always go back to gold down the road if I get tired of blk.

@71 Chally- Awesome, would really like to see your projects when I get back into the country, if thats possible? Do you go to any local car meets or shows?

@Ron 73- Thanks, Im pretty sure I have already quite a few of your tips and posts!

Nice to see someone who shares my passion and plans. Good luck on your project, you have a much better start than I did. Mine is on here under "saving another 68 charger". Can't wait to see your progress.

Very nice car. Will be beautiful when done. Keep the pic's coming!!!

nice looking car, and you snuck it out of iowa without me knowing about it. good one to you.

I missed it before but I love the vacuum operated trunk release option on your car. Any other interesting options, and do you still have the operator(switch) in the car?

@ smyythe68- yes the switch was still in the car. As for other cool options.... not really sure.... do power windows and rear speakers count? I wish it had a Tic-toc tach :( but it doesnt!

@v-code- Ok you got me looking at pics of gold chargers....... I am now on the fence! I need to see one in person. I should be able to spot one at carlisle this year!

@ roadrunnerman- Im glad I snuck it out too! I think I got a great deal too. $7500/ $1200 to transport. All my friends think Im crazy though..... they dont see the potential!

Can someone help me ID what rear end is in this by the pic above. Im currently 7000 miles from home and cant count the bolts! I know the orginal ratio was 3.23. It doesnt look like a 9 3/4 (no buldge or filler plug), and its obviously not a 8 3/4...... so Im thinking its a 8 1/4 or 9 1/4.
