68 Coronet 2dr Ht ID Tag info?

My car has a ID tag left front inner fender held on with 2 screws. under one of the screws is a metal tag about 3 " long 1/2 wide with what looks like a U stamped out of it.. Any idea what this is? I saw a car today with the same tag but it was broken off.. Thanks

Were they built at the LA (E designation)plant?
Typical inspection strip and stamp.

Yep built in LA plant. So is it a line inspector tag one puts on after finale inspection? Thanks

I do not know when or what was inspected. Other plant stampings, such as the STL plant, indicate the stamp was after the construction of the body in white and before paint. So...after assembly but before paint and trim. Certainly not a 'final' inspection.
