For Sale is the 68 Plymouth GTX I've owned for approximately 12 years. Some history: Fourteen years ago I was restoring my 67 Barracuda Convertible. During that time I purchased a couple of parts cars to acquire some of the parts I needed. A friend said in the race shop he rented for his Formula car there was a Barracuda Conv in the corner that he thought the owner wanted to sell. I went to look. Sure enough, it was a 69 Barracuda Conv with a 360 and tri power on it. Next to it was a car covered with a tarp. It was a 68 GTX. It had a fiberglass hood with a huge scoop and "Hemi" lettering everywhere. I checked the vin and to my surprise realized this was a real "Hemi" car. Not a clone.

I called the owner. Finally, after days of negotiation I purchased both cars. The previous owner bought the GTX in the early 70's (from a friend of mine no less). He was drag racing it. In 77 he cut out the trunk floor and part of the rear seat floor to tub it. He also tack welded in a 4 link setup but thankfully did not touch the frame rails or the Dana. Yes, it's a 4 speed car. It has also spent nearly it's whole life in Georgia. Salt and nearly entirely rust free. That is where the project stopped and it hasn't changed since.

It left the factory Triple Black, Bucket Seat, Console, etc. Due to a multitude of things I am putting it up for sale. I hate to but age, health, upcoming college, and family needs.............well you understand. I have a local offer of $30k I am looking for something North of that. Nothing super crazy. It's 95 to 98 percent compete. Please contact me if SERIOUSLY interested. Thank you, Frank HemiLFront.JPG

I edited your ad title so it says GTX instead of GT.

FWIW More pictures would help your ad showing condition of various areas, interior, the HEMI etc :)

Also a price is required per the rules

Thank you everyone. I had to go to the storage facility I've rented for 10 years to get some more pics. Sorry for quality, photography is not my thing. I'm loosing my storage facility next week. It's becoming a new subdivision. I'll always answer any questions to the best of my ability.

Years ago I had Ray Barton dismantle the motor. It had a huge tunnel ram thing, etc. Ray had dynoed my small block for the Barracuda. At the time he said a rebuild would be around $11k to $12k. My thoughts are why build that when I can buy a new crate Hemi for not much more and then I can save the original motor. I've met the last two previous owners which takes up back to 1971. They both say it has the original motor but to be honest I don't know exactly how to check that. I do know the heads are dated just before the build date.

When I say I have most of the parts, this is what I mean. The doors on the car when I purchased it were super lightweight fiberglass shells. Super high quality hand layed. Along with fiberglass front fenders and fiberglass front bumper. Right after purchase another Mopar racer begged for the fenders and bumper so I sold those off along with the tunnel ram. The original doors are premo!!! Zero rust and just unbolted from the car years ago. Door panels, glass and all. Really nice. It needs fenders and front bumper. Now available from AMD. I have an original hood. I have the orginal carbs and intake, and exhaust manifolds although I think one is cracked. I have a new fuel tank and the original air cleaner, along with boxes of other parts. There is no bubbling or rust apparent under the original vinyl roof. The under side of the trunk is still original paint with the factory markings. There is no quarter panel or rocker panel rust. Like I said earlier the did cut the trunk and back seat floor to tub it but look at the pics and you will not see any trunk rust. This is one very solid car.

$35k obo More pics to follow.

Many thanks, Frank

Additionally, years ago I sent the Hurst shifter to Hurst to be reconditioned and rechromed at a substantial expense. It looks great! And it has a clear title.

Thanks again, Frank

Please note, tunnel ram and other race parts shown in photos may no longer be available. Another bit of info. Previous owner removed 4 speed to install an automatic. The clutch pedal is just tied up under the dash. The automatic is gone but the four speed is present.
