I'm having my Roadrunner repainted and have questions about the bowtie effect that was on many 68's. It was a black patch between the call outs on the center of the hood. I was wondering if it was painted that way or whether it was a decal. Attached is photo of what I'm trying to describe.

If it was painted, what color of black was used. If it was a decal, does anyone sell them?

It was paint, but it depends on where the car was built. The St. Louis assembly plant stopped using Organisol after April 1968 and used low gloss enamel instead. The other plants continued with Organisol which is lacquer based.
