68 roadrunner sending unit

Having trouble installing the sending unit in the tank of my 68 runner.
The unit doesn’t snap all the way in. I think it’s because of the new hard filter sock it comes with. I can push it/force it, not sure that a good idea.
Any suggestion or insight would be appreciated.

Can you make a side by side comparison to the old?? Does it "drop right in" without the sock on?

No the original with the tank where so bad, they got tossed.
Talked to Mancini as well as others.

New tank? Who's sending unit? Bad sending units have long been discussed, not compatible with our gauges. Also, you may have the wrong sending unit. Van's in Wapun, Wisconsin. Have heard that they have a sending unit that is now compatible with our gauges.

I’ll check out vans.
Triple checked the tank
It’s the right one

Sounds like the tube needs a tweak.

Just installed new classic industries sending unit in a new AMD tank on Sunday. The tank has 2 notches and the sender has 2 corresponding tabs that go in the notches. Are you sure you’re all lined up?

I have been playing the sending unit game with my 71 340 duster and 86 ramchager for years, they are all wildly inaccurate. I bought multiple senders from multiple different sources for both of these vehicles. They are literally all the same Chinese/Taiwan **** doesn’t matter where you purchased the sender from, it could be possible that they have it out of spec.

I can hear and feel the hard sock hitting the tank
I changed the sending unit on my charger some years ago
No issues, soft sock, done in no time.
Im installing it tomorrow
Ill let you know
