I was sold this sending unit. We are going to have the 440 auto 727 and I have a return line. I did not remove a return line off the car. The sending unit that I have doesn't really fit in the tank as i've seen a few installed with the restoring threads. What do I really need?? Sorry I'm new into these mopars

I've never seen a unit with such long tubes coming out of the tank. You probably should buy the correct one. 521 Restorations among others sell what you need. 383 cars didn't use a return line, just a 5/16 main tube. I always upgrade to a 3/8 line and sending unit however.

that fuel sock / screen is no good it is sucked together and will restrict fuel flow.

Not sure what that unit goes to but it looks nothing like mine. 68 Bees will have no return line, and go with 3/8. Also the ground will be a strap, not a wire, that snaps on the tube coming from the sending unit, and the steel line itself and the rubber hose connecting the two will be between the ends of the strap. I don't have a pick of one with me but its easy to search.

This is what a proper unit should look like if you want to use a return line.

This is what the stock 5/16, no return, sender would look like in a Bee.

Thank you guys for the great information.
X2 on Van's , they even have a 1/2" sending unit ( for my 64 tank anyway) . You could add a return line into your tank with a bulkhead fitting , Summit sells a kit to do this. Use the hose that attaches to the inside of the bulkhead fitting so that you don't aerate the fuel , keep it away from the pick up.
