Hi all,

Dome light:
In the effort to continue learning this car and reconnecting the things that were not connected, the dome light harness that runs from the light down the driver side A pillar has a different connector than the one that came in the new harness for the Rallye dash. The light harness connector is T-shaped and female with spade connectors while the connector on the dash harness is female, has 2 pins with the 2 yellow wires and single pink. From looking at the wiring diagram, it looks like there may be some kind of intermediate harness? That goes between the dome light harness and main dash harness? If so, any idea what it's called and where to get it?

Hazard switch:
Which way does the connector plug into the hazard switch? There's a little nubby on the side of the connector but I'm not sure if it faces toward the driver or passenger side when connected.

Thanks very much,
Mikey

Wiring may be hacked. The trunk lite option has a pigtail option. Trunk lite plugs into the dash harness, dome plugs into the trunk harness. The connector is kinda square with a pointed nose.
Least, that is how my '69 Road Runner is.
Not sure about the 4-way.

Thanks Bird,

The wiring from the trunk looks to be original and the dash harness is new. I do have the pointed nose plug you mention. But the wiring that goes to the trunk connects to a rectangular connector from the main dash harness. And the harness from the dome light goes down the A-pillar behind the dash to a T shaped connector with 2 spades. Is there a connector somewhere that I'm missing? It seems I don't have the connecting end to that pointed connector coming from the main harness.
I just looked in the trunk, and felt all around. I have no trunk light switch, nor do I seem to have any wiring going up to the trunk lid.

Trunk light was an option and a separate wire was run for it as I recall.

Any other harnesses with yellow and pink wires are the map light, key light, console lights. Rally and standard still have all the same dome and accessory wiring.

Thanks. So I guess I don't have the light package as I don't have a trunk light or a map light. In that case, can I simply connect the dome light harness to the one down near the kick panel if I replace the connectors?

Thanks,
Mikey

What year car is this? Something is off. Everything should be plug and play. I am only familiar with my '69.

It's a '69 Superbee. The dash wiring harness is a new M&H unit with the pointed Molex?? plug you mentioned. The dome light, however, does have a pink and a yellow wire but it has a T shaped 2-spade connector. It runs down the driver A pillar and looks factory but was just hanging behind the dash when I got the car.

I suppose the PO could have switched out the dome light. Do any other years come with the T-shaped plug that you know of?

Since I don't have a map or trunk light, there's nothing running to the back so I'm assuming I don't have the light package. Could I simply swap the dome light connector for a Molex one that plugs into the main dash harness?

Thanks,
Mikey

Doesn’t the dome light harness in B bodies up to 70 run throught the C pillar? The intermediate harness carries also the wire for the trunk light.

Yes you can swap plugs. 2 ways standard Molex plugs and terminals are available. Althought you can also get a dome light with the Molex terminals on pigtail already matched.

Thanks all,

Nacho, much appreciated. So my guess is when the PO did the headliner, he ran the pink and yellow dome light harness down the driver A-pillar. So it's just hanging out behind the dash. So if I take the dome/trunk light feed (2 yellow, 1 pink) from the main dash / instrument cluster harness which has the pointed Molex connector and just cut/replace the T connector on the 2 yellow/pink wires coming from the dome light with the correct Molex connector, all good? Door switches will work, etc? I can't see why not since there's nothing running to the trunk but I'm not the greatest electrical guy :)

Thanks again!

Mikey

Yes, will work. That’s in fact how runs 71 and laters B bodies (also E) But if you don’t want to deal with that, you can also get a dome light assembly with the right conector.

OOOOOR, keep the dome light itself but change the harness from socket up to connector

You can allways sell the one you have at this moment as full harness. Somebody could need the opposite you are needing
