69 Coronet Rocker Panel Trim Clip Question

Just bought a 69 coronet rt that's had older resto done. The clips holding the rocker panel trim on look like there too soft and the trim is pulled away in spots and it looks like crap. Does anyone no the best place to get stronger clips?

Same here. Exactly. Mine from Year One. Too soft. User themechanic here had a thread and fix on here IIRC.

Here she is. I wonder if I have poor body work because trim has a gap in the same spot on both sides or if I have wrong trim and the right trim is supposed to have a bend in it in that spot

The rocker trim itself on mine is a Y O purchase from the late 80's. Maybe the OEM's did have a barely detectable bend in them. Or maybe it is a characteristic. You can actually see the white clip on mine.

Looks like we have same problem. Are both sides the same on yours? I think I'm going to take them off and fill holes in if I can't get the gap fixed thats a shame cause I like looks of them. Another question I had about the car is that it doesn't have rallye dash and it's a ws23 car. I thought that was standard with rt option

I removed my rocker moldings for paint and haven't put them back on, yet. So, I don't know if there was a gap between the molding and the rocker on my car.

Never noticed this on my '69 Coronet.... maybe never looked at it properly.

Regarding the Ralley dash, this was optional.
Noticed you have the hood scoops as well, does yours still have the fresh air ducting under the hood? (N96 option)
Mine was most likely removed to make space for the currently installed Edelbrock intake and Holley carb which will not fit with the ducting

Yes I have the n96 option and previous owner put new duct work under the hood. The car was restored back to original. I've always liked original better than resto mod. The car needs a few little things like the rt emblem on the trunk lid which I'm having trouble finding. Would you know if a different year would share the same emblem?

They don't have a bend and yes mine also have that small gap..... BUT the kit you buy does not have enough clips for the Coronet. I was too lazy/cheap to buy a second set of clips to fill in the missing 2 clips in this area that would help pull it in. I have a set of moulding getting restored and polished (mine has a Plymouth moulding on one side) and when I put them on I will put all the clips on and I can take a photo/measurement of where all the holes and clips should be.

Look here. You can see the extra holes next to the rear most moulding that I did not have clips for with the kit. You can see how that should pull it in around the area of concern...
