is it possible to install headers on a 69 roadrunner without jacking the engine to one side. Will the headers install without any modifications to the engine besides installing a mini starter

Probably depends on the brand of headers, but the starter is the only thing that I have ever had to take loose.

I just put a set of TTi 1 7/8 on my Road Runner. Didn't have to jack the motor up at all. I did have to grind a small amount off a corner of my bell housing though - maybe a 1/8".

thanks for the info

Man it was a pain installing headers with the engine out of the car! I count not imagine it being fun to do in the car. I had a used set that had been pre 'clearanced' but even then they needed "clearancing" to clear the torson bars! I think if I ever replace them I'll go TTI's as they seam to be the only brand that sounds like the properly fit!

Mine are Hooker's 1 7/8 I think.

Definitely not an easy install. Headers are a little on the costly side. But would be worth it if they fit.

Like someone mentioned earlier...depends on the brand. Most of the ones I had weren't too bad but still had to lift the engine but the last set of Hooker Comps I had on a 71 340 Cuda allowed me to change the factory style starter without loosening them. You had to hold your mouth just right but once you got it angled right, it slipped right out.
