I am putting the finishing touches on the 69 project as we will (finally after 3 years) be painting the car this next week. I will be redying the dash and wanted to know if the dash dye should be gloss black or matte black?
Also how much paint will it take to repaint the 440? and how much paint and best supplier for the organisol black six pack hood?
I also am needing to find the black foam that goes under the hood to put the hood on the car top (suppliers)? Thank you! I really appreciate any help with these questions . Best wishes!

i cant give you any exact answers but this is what i can say my very poor condition dash apears to be a flat dye not gloss as for how much paint that really depends on the brand, color, number of coats desired, and of course the person painting it. if your having someone spray it for you ask there opinion. as for the black foam are you talking about the under the hood insulation or what

i don't think the dash had that much gloss, maybe a little to give it some shine. Not sure,i've never owned one but i don't think 6-pak hoods had insulation on them. Are you going to use a spray gun or spray can to paint your 440?

I purchased my paint from Totally Auto when I was restoring my 70 Road Runner. The paint is a little pricey but went on nice and looked great when finished. The were very helpful on the phone. I believe the correct paint is Satin Black, but not positive. Their website is http://www.totallyautoinc.com/

Question: Why redye or paint your dash? You can have those pieces recovered in any color you want, and rest easy knowing that it'll last a lifetime! Just Dashes just did my glove box door and three lower dash pads. They came out great!

thanks for the input !

I really appreciate your help, I did the dash in flat black, didnt need refinishing as its clean and crack free. I know that the original lift off hoods were done with organisol paint but I understand its hard to get looking right and that their are better products now for a matte black look for the hood. I have also heard that the original lift off /a-12 cars had a protective insulation on the bottom to be able to place the hood on the top of the car without scratching.

On the motor repaint /440 I will probably primer and spray can bomb it. I know that there are a couple options on this as well, any ideas or suggestions are appreciated. thanks so much for al your help!:headbang:
