Believe it is a 3 wire connection. Wires plug into a 2 plug female socket (wires are blk and blk/white) that comes from the bulkhead connector. Said wires run to the 4 spd transmission back up switch (sry don't know the colors of the wires). A 3rd wire is spliced into the male connector and apparently runs into the light harness to power the reverse light in the cabin.

i just dealt with this. i ran the black/black white trace up to the bulk head. wire diagram says nothing about 3rd wire? i didnt put one on. now, not sure if i did it right. i do have some extra 2 prong wires.

Thanks for the info. I figured I could cobble something together but obviously I'd like to go OEM. I comment about the '3rd wire' due to the pix one of the other members posted. Apparently some harnesses have them and others don't? Not sure since I don't have one to work with and can't say I've seen many of them.

i am thinking that the 3rd wire would be necessary for the 70 DASH reverse light. no dash reverse light on 68-9. I have seen manual wire with curved plug and others that tie straight into the wiper plug. I ran it straight to the wiper plug.
