is the hood scoops for ram air the same color of car,i have seen some black painted scoops on some, your experience seeing these please. thanks

I read somewhere that there was an option where the hood scoops and side scoops were painted black. Sure don't see many that aren't body color though.

I believe the "black scoops" were part of a "Spring Special" option package or something to that effect. Hell I don't remember any more, too long ago.


But normally they are "body color".

The "Special Hood Paint Treatment" mentioned in the Scat Pack package is the blackout of the scoops. I will see if I can find some pictures of an A39 or A40 verified car.

every dual scooped hood ( fresh air) including both A and B bodies 69 & 70 , we're body color , just as the side scoops were . the special hood paint treatment was the hood itself and not blacked out scoops. if there were cars sitting on a lot for sale with blacked out dual scoops on a non black car, it was done by the dealer and did not roll off the assembly line that way.

Thanks, that's what I was talking about. Note that it IS referred to as the A39 option package. Nice to know that my memory is not totally gone yet!

The A14/A15 Spring Special option is Pymouth, not Dodge.

Thanks 69CoronetRT for posting the A39/A40 pictures. The V21 code along with the N96 on the tag posted above authenticates the black scoops on the Scat Pak Bee's.

A Super Bee with this option is the only way the scoops will be black if not an X9 car. As previously stated, the standard paint scheme was body color for the scoops. I know of no option that blacked out the M46 side scoops. I agree, the side scoops blacked out is dealer or owner applied.
