Wondering the groups thoughts on value for this car. It supposed to be 54k actual miles. Hard ones no doubt. Matching numbers engine and trans. 440-4 Automatic. Comes with a new legendary top and carpet. Claimed CA car all its life. Sounds like it did some racing and has headers on it, comes with the original manifolds.

Power windows, discs, ac, and am fm. Luggage rack. My red book doesn’t have a few of these codes, like n42 and c55. That or c26 might be the overhead console.

Interesting, although no bearing on value, is car belonged to Martin Sheens brother when new. This is supposed to be second owner and his health doesn’t allow him to finish the car. Does sound like an older gentleman on the phone.

My friend sold a California roller with a correct dated block for 30k in 2022. It was an F8 green car with black roof originally. A 440 automatic transmission equipped Challenger R/T SE. The car was rust free, and ready to block for paint.

N42 might be bright exhaust tips
C55 might be for bucket seats
C26 might be for Consolette w/Formed Headlining

Will the engine run?
Is the engine seized?
The parts in the trunk are spare parts or were removed from this car?
What does it look like underneath?
Lots of unknowns.

I haven't followed E bodies in a very long time.

Lots of good options and its a great model.

I'll venture a WIW GUESS...$22,000

I wouldn’t sell it for less than $29,000 if it were mine, but I would advertise it for more to keep the tire kickers and flippers away.

You should go look at it first hand.

I ended up finding the c55 for buckets. Not sure why a common thing isn’t in the book I have. Also confirmed the c26 for the overhead, kinda figured since it is a C and isn’t one you normally see.

I found discussion of n42 and it’s a CA thing as some cars got the hemi resonators and some had turn downs. N42 is for the tips, n97 could be them and resonators. N95 is the ca emmisons of course.

What do you guys think this one is worth? I see ready to go cars from 60-85k, although this one is best optioned I’ve ever seen, colors and all. Afraid the resto would put it so far upside down I wouldn’t touch it. Really wish he’d left it alone as a patina driver and just do a few things like the top. It’s so weathered I think each and every piece would have to be handled if you do very much to it.

What is a 440 RT/SE worth done? $75,000 or not that? You can't buy it for much and put $50 large in it to restore without being upside down in it.

He seems to think it would run, I don’t know that it matters much. You tear down and sleeve the block etc regardless to save it. He didn’t send any bottom pics. I’d absolutely go see it in person. Not sure a deal is there to be made though.

That’s my line of thinking. Real case for it is how it’s loaded down with equipment. Really hard to find a better line up of goodies and colors.

To answer an earlier question, the parts are supposed to be from this car. Guy is no longer mobile and stopped. He’s a car guy through and through.

Highly optioned cars bring top money but they cost way more to restore than the stripper models.

I’ve gotten enough opinions that the car is worth more than I think it is. Closer to what he wants. I have 2k or better shipping, plus a plane ride to go see it. A bridge too far as they say.

It’s in the new Hemmings so I’ll just leave this here since he put his number out nationally already.

If this were a runner and just needed a few things to be useable I would’ve likely gotten close to his number and just dealt with the clowns that think it’s a 5k junker they can afford. I used to do the ratty muscle car thing before it was cool. That’s the only downside, the clowns following you home.

$50,000

Ouch!!

I was going to write a "devil's advocate" reply for the car, but I'm not that much of an advocate, or a devil for that matter.

I was thinking 30k, but here and the Moparts gang all seem to point more like 40. I’ve noticed the values we come up with seem to be low, I was roundedly criticized by a seller over the winter when I was 10k more than the Moparts usuals thought on his car, he said I was low by 10k in offers and it did sell soon after. I noted I was closer to right than his highball price was because he missed by 20k.

So maybe the 50 arena isn’t really as crazy as I thought. It’s just not for me, not with what I have in the garage already.

Other nice ones have sold for less.

The triple black car is overpriced at $55,000.

If someone really loves the triple black car and can afford to "take a bath" at $40,000 and spend a fortune to restore it, then they should go for it!

Too bad it doesn't have a manual transmission.

All too high on prices in my opinion. However, my opinion is probably different then most since I just paid less back in Jan of this year for this rust free, running and driving loaded out pretty nicely 70 R/T S.E. for what most people are asking for project cars. So, the deals are still out here to be found.
