'70 charger headlight door motor and rod

Just received a very expense reconditioned headlight door motor and now need to find the the rod that goes thru it. I've measured the slot that the rod goes thru and it seems to be a very tight 1/4" x 3/16" and I think I've read somewhere it's 31" long. Can someone please confirm that these measurements are exactly correct or state what the true values are. I can get a new rod ordered from a from a company but,of course, I can't return it if I gave them the wrong measurements. Thank You in advance,

I have some laying around. I will try to measure one next time when I am out in the garage.

Make sure you follow the FSM procedure to properly rotate the motor and headlight covers now that you have a new motor, I went through that last summer. This might help.

sorry about the pics, yes 30 1/2 inches and 1/4 by 3/16 . Im left handed

You can always cut it down if it's extra long, but be sure to get the rod thickness right.

I measured mine and it's 30 3/8" long - if IIRC there was extra space in the heading door slots, so it could be longer.

I measured .225 x .18 for the dimensions. Like others have said, you can make a bigger/longer rod smaller
