70 Hemi Superbird Restoration..................errr.....scratch that........

One day I'd love to bring my 70 and see your Superbird in person plus get a picture of our two LimeLight cars together...

...but I'm still not gonna race you!!!
You are welcome anytime! We have several extra bedrooms so you can stay and hang out, that is, as long as you’re not allergic to cats as we have a few of those as well.

A few small wins recently. I ordered a bunch of repop items to get this ball rolling. I got a quarter window roller kit and installed the quarter window mechanisms. I wasn’t sure how well they would work with my wheel tubs. They work, but won’t go down all of the way. It’s low enough that I can live with it.

I need to polish the glass as it’s got a lot of scratches on the quarter glass. Door glass is decent. The rear window is made of smoked lexan. I’ll need to get some tint film and make them match. Here’s a scrap of the lexan to see the difference.

I’m working on the interior to get as much of that done as I can before the doors are returned so I can hang them right after they arrive. Up next will be the headliner. I will need to repaint some of the cage bars before that happens, and I didn’t want glue residue on any finished bars so I went ahead and glued up the insulation.

I finished out the back area by making some screw in panels that are easily removed for access. NHRA requires these made of metal so I used the appropriate sheet metal. They got painted black and I think they’ll get covered with a carbon fiber wrap to match the door panels.

I didn’t want to hang the front fenders until the doors were back and hung. They’ve been sitting in the front garage and the only thing I could do to them was to install the side marker lights. I painted them blue as they’ll be zero chrome or polished stainless on the car. I like the blue better and they’ll match the rears like on a Roadrunner.

I like cats and we have one, so no problem there! (For the record, I like dogs too, and in general most animals. Just don't ask me about mice...)
I appreciate the offer - maybe a future "HawkRod Power tour"?!? Stopping at your place will really highlight the power!

I need to polish the glass as it’s got a lot of scratches on the quarter glass.
When I restored my 70 Road Runner I had some scratches in the glass as well. I was told that if you can catch the scratch with your fingernail then you can't successfully polish the scratch out. I found that to be true, although after polishing all of my glass I found the big scratches were less noticeable. I hope your scratches are small and you have good results!

One of the scratches is about 2” long and definitely catches a nail. If I can get the rest out I can live with it. I’m not going for a high end build. I want something that’s nice enough to attract interest but also average enough if I scratch something I’m not crying in my sorrows lol

Cage paint happened last night. It’s spray bomb rustoleum so it’ll probably take days to harden. I was hoping to install the headliner but we’ll see…

YES! Do that!
This looks like my dreams, great job man!
