Probably been asked already, but I can't find a thread. What's the widest wheel/tire combo with offset etc we can run ? I'm going to 17's eventually - tons of room and looks right with the "hips" on these cars !

Ive asked this question on Moparts and The Roadrunner Nest and the consensus from the replies is that for 71-72 you can easily go to a 295 8"rim 4.5" back spacing. AZ Nick has that set up on his car and he says (I just PM'd him last week) there is still plenty of clearance.

Of course its personal preference but unless you wanna run drag slicks, I dont think you wanna go any wider than 295's. Last car show I was at, couple hundred cars, I think I saw one car with 305's a few 295's and tons of 275 or less.

Whats going on my car is, hopefully a 295 50 or 55 (pref if I can find it) 15 x 9 rim. 295's can go on an 8" but 9" would be perfect.

I have 17x9.5 with 5.25 inch backspacing. I had 4.75 inch backspacing and had a slight tire rub, moved them inboard a half inch, now I have 1/2 inch clearance both at the leaf spring and quarter panel lip.

Any pictures ? What width wheel/tire ?

255/60/15s up front on 7" rims and 275/60/15s on rear on 8" rims. Not totally sure of backspacing but its less than 4".

15x8's with 3.75" backspace on all four corners. 255's on the nose and 275's on the rear.

My 73 Charger has 15X7 4" back space and 235/60/'s on the front. Rear is 295/50/15 on 8X15" 4.5" back space on the rear.

No offense - but I did ask for Roadrunner/Satellite combos .... nothing against Chargers - but I don't own one at the moment !

16" - 235 65 16 on 16X8 rim with 4.25" backspace 0 offset
17 "- 245 45 17 on 17X8 rim with 4.50 backspace 0 offset
Rim choice is up to you.
Hope this helps.

my photo gallery shows 17x8s w/ 255/55s all the way around 4.5 b.s. Yes I get some rubbing on the fender strut on bumps w/ tires turned. I'll have to route that diff. as I like the width and want to keep the same size all around. A 245 I'm sure would have avoided this but I didn't know. The tire guy said I plenty of room, he was wrong but just slightly. I'll get around it, as I said I like the look.
