72 Charger Color

Edit...ok, I now see your 2nd reqmt (mopar color)

If you don't have to have a Mopar color, then take a look at the these yellows for 1969-1973 Corvettes:

1969 Daytona Yellow (984)
1970 Daytona Yellow (984)
1971 Sunflower Yellow (912)
1972 Sunflower Yellow (912)
1973 Bright Yellow (952)

i duuno... I'm willing to go out there. The Mopar color was more of a way to stay in the family. you know... at a car show, some asks, "What color?" and you say "Mustang Blue"...

FY1

"Banana/Top Banana/Lemon Twist"

...if it's the factory color.

That's another color that's super hard to get right.
Wish I had a dollar for every time I've seen it wrong.
To me, that 70 Charger looks too bright.
FY1 has a creaminess to it, but it's subtle.

This looks more correct to me-

...and it's on a 72 door.

Oh, just tell the general public gawkers it is a custom 1 of 1 color only available from the Mopar St Louis production plant. Lol

I having difficultly connecting some dots on the car's original color. Basically, I can get a perspective of original color from overspray areas, engine bay, jams, etc. But when I look at the color code and related chips, it doesn't match with my eyes. I'm pretty certain that the car wasn't perfectly repainted... it was a beater I dragged out of a junk yard in Alabama someone rattle canned black.

Anywhos... Here are some pics and I'm asking two questions, actually.

1) Can you point me to the original color (not just the code, but the paint chip) and,
2) I'd like to repaint it some form of yellow... an original Mopar color, but perhaps from a different year... so open to recommendations. I like the yellow I'm seeing and what appears to be the original color, but again, it doesn't seem to match the paint code chip.

Ok... three questions:
3) BTW... why does the code say "GY4", but all the paint chips I can find are just "Y-4"... I'm assuming that's because I'm looking at the wrong chips?

Are you going to keep the S2Y3 interior color?

I have seen cars with a slight external color change that didn't really "work" with the interior color.

Here is what Mopar shows for the S2Y3:

I agree, yellow with a tan interior might be tricky to pull off.
