72 Charger Color

IMO Y is not a terrible jump from yellows to golds.
What else ya gonna use? G is green.
Y is also bronze.

I almost bought a 69 Hemi Road Runner convertible that was pale yellow with a tan interior.
Kinda odd.

to be clear......I'm a fan of keeping original colors, even I they aren't one of my faves

I having difficultly connecting some dots on the car's original color. Basically, I can get a perspective of original color from overspray areas, engine bay, jams, etc. But when I look at the color code and related chips, it doesn't match with my eyes. I'm pretty certain that the car wasn't perfectly repainted... it was a beater I dragged out of a junk yard in Alabama someone rattle canned black.

Anywhos... Here are some pics and I'm asking two questions, actually.

1) Can you point me to the original color (not just the code, but the paint chip) and,
2) I'd like to repaint it some form of yellow... an original Mopar color, but perhaps from a different year... so open to recommendations. I like the yellow I'm seeing and what appears to be the original color, but again, it doesn't seem to match the paint code chip.

Ok... three questions:
3) BTW... why does the code say "GY4", but all the paint chips I can find are just "Y-4"... I'm assuming that's because I'm looking at the wrong chips?

If you like yellow, and wanna be different, there's always EL5. Dodge called it butterscotch, which is pretty accurate.
I bought mine in spite of the color, grew to love it. Pretty rare on a 69 or 71, would have had to be a special order on a 72.
I usually don't recommend it to anyone, other than if it's the original color.
This is Bahama Yellow. Code 96 on my A12.

Answer to question 3:

Hemi Orange and Tor Red.

Sub Lime and Limelight.

There are a few more.

Plymouth called that color Bahama yellow, Dodge called it Butterscotch.
Color code 96 in 69, EL5 in 71.
I knew someone would comment on this. I have a Chrysler bulletin introducing the new mid year color. I'll find it and post it. Bahama Yellow was for Dodge.

I vote for OEM GY4.

That color does grow on you.

I bought a parts car Charger in that color and grew to really like it.
Women talk about the color of the curtains. Just stick with matching (to the vin) colors. Matching colors and matching numbers. That's all what counts eventually. The rest is mindfuck.
