Dear Mopar fellows
On my 72 Charger my heat control valve are broke - I cant find in same design - anybody know where to find or what can be in use instead
Yeah, I've never seen one quite like that either. A few months ago I bought one from Napa. Mine is cable operated just like yours and it looks like the bracket yours attaches to is the same required to fit the one I bought as well . do a search on the Napa website to see if it will work...the part number is 660-1235 and I paid $58.49 for it back in the summer. Sadly, this is about the only picture I have of mine showing the valve.
Don't buy one of those plastic resin type, they are junk, got one for 95 bucks 5 years ago, and it cracked after 1k miles. Got one of the metal ones like above, and had to fabricate an adaptor plate, and it works great.
I had one like that on my 73. I don't believe it was original as the OEM calls for the crappy plastic one which no doubt cracked.
That is an Everco replacement and are available if you search the part number as GY8SE supplied.
Glad I saw this thread, need to replace mine, though the original plastic resin one on mine did last 40+ years. Think I will pick up one of those from ODZKing's post.
The early versions of the OE valves, vacuum and cable operated, had a Bakelite valve body and were prone to cracking in short order due to heat exposure. Later versions moved to another composite for the valve body. If running one, recommend shielding the valve from radiated heat from cast iron exhaust manifolds, especially the HP versions.
