The guy before me swapped out the 400 for a 440 and with my current air filter the hood doesn't shut right. I assume My air filter isn't the right one and is too tall. But I saw this kit, https://www.herbsparts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=103-71KIT and thought to myself that sure would be sweet to have with a 6 pack. Has anyone used this kit or know if it would even work? The description says 71-72 charger, I just feel like the clearance of the engine and manifold/carbs/filter wouldn't fit.

So, the kit you linked to is for a roadrunner as I am sure you know. I saw one of these on a Charger once and the black fiberglass bulge is made to fit between the hood character lines on the flat satellite hood I believe, and the center ridge on the charger flat hood causes a problem. If you have a bulge hood I would assume that you would not be having hood clearance, so the flat hood would have to be cut out under the bulge as well. I have a bulge hood that had a reproduction door welded in. I did not do the welding, and I would suggest having a professional weld it in as whoever did it caused some distortion.

@moparmarks : no I don't have an air grabber hood now, but it would be a pretty sweet accessory.
@Nacho-RT74 : Thanks for that link, its jam packed with info I've been searching for on the web.
@nstyle73 : Yeah the kit says 70 roadrunner GTX and 71-72 charger, but the hood shape didnt seem to look right to me for a charger. I don't have a bulge hood and so thats what where my project is heading next I suppose.
