I've been passively chasing this for a while, but the deeper I dig, the less I think I know...

I'm missing the trim (stainless/chrome) that runs along the front edge of my rear quarter-window glass. I wasn't too concerned about it because they came with the car, and weren't installed -- one is broken, or so I thought.

I assumed that finding the (new/repop/used/nos) trim pieces, then slipping them on and putting in new weatherstrip wouldn't be too big a hassle--my '67 skylark needs one of the same thing (the vertical trim).

BUT....in looking about, it appears that BOTH of the trim pieces I have are broken, and it is *not* just a slip-it-on-and be done with it installation.

Does anyone have any pictures of the rear quarter glass, with the vertical trim, OUT of the car so I can see what I'm dealing with? Am I correct in my thought that the glass has to come out of the car to install the trim, and that the trim carries under the bottom of the glass?

Here's a quick snapshot of what I have on hand -- am I correct in thinking that neither is complete (I know the one is busted)...

A million thanks, Mark, that really helps me along.

So it looks like I only have one broken trim piece...and that the windows don't have to come completely out of the car to replace them. And it tells me that some of the alleged pics I've been seeing for the back quarter window glass in a '72 satty are not the right glass -- something didn't feel right.

So, now my quest is to get my hands on just the trim for the driver's (left/port) side of the car and then get some new weatherstripping--although I'm not opposed to buying windows if that's what it takes.

At least I know what I'm looking for, and as always, that's the biggest part of the challenge.

On a related subject, has anyone replaced that seal? How difficult is to do it? I want to remove it, replace the seal, and polish the trim.

Thanks in advance

I haven't replaced mine on the Plymouth yet--but I started replacing one on the '67 Skylark this weekend (very similar setup) -- on that car it's just a matter of putting a little silicone on the new gasket, and sliding it down the channel.

I'm hoping the Plymouth will be as simple once I find some stainless trim.

As far as polishing the trim, depending on how pitted/beat up it is, I'm a fan of Flitz for smaller work like that...

Thanks cbunt1!

I replaced the rubber seal on mine for my 73, almost identical to how the 72 is setup. The seal just slips out of the channel on the trim, there is a small tang on the bottom that holds it in place, and its easy to break off, I had one side of mine come off, but you can use a small screw to hold that down if needed and it will not be visible when installed. Not sure whey Chrysler didn't do that in the first place, makes more sense.
