Hi all- the pin between the weights and the spool in my governor is badly worn and grooved which I believe was causing my early shift problems.
I have been searching and can not find a new pin to buy. seems like this should be a common wear part. I am inclined to make my own-
what have you guys done? Is it simply a straight shaft, or stepped/tapered? Mine is too worn to tell.

Someone closer to you may have one. Pretty sure I do. I have a bunch of parts

Took the left one out of my parts trans, it looks worn too, but much smoother than the other one, does it look servicable? It is a little sloppy in the weight and spool.

It's not to be tight on the weights anyway.

I don't think this is what is causing an early shift. The rod only keeps the weights from coming out of the housing. Low governor pressure causes early shifts. More likely the governor housing is plugged with debris or the governor sealing rings are worn.

Thanks Doug, The pin is so rough it feels like it is threaded, I thought it might be holding the spool in an inboard position. The seal rings do look pretty bad though.
