The rear main seal on my 727 is leaking tans fluid and needs to be replaced. Not my area of expertise. Anyone in DFW area know of a shop that can fix it but not insanely expensive? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Max.

Appreciate the responses and to update, I spoke to the engine builder and he told me it's most likely the trans front pump seal. Back to shopping around.

Thanks again, ya'll.

Max.

Engines have rear main seals. Are you referring to the extension housing seal, at the rear of the transmission, where the drive shaft front yoke enters the extension housing?
If so, it is a easy job. Do you have mechanical experience in auto repair?

Spoke to Liz, very nice lady, approx $1800 quote gave me sticker shock, but that would include trans rebuild, if needed, $1000 without to fix the seal. Yeah, it's been a couple'a years since I had any work done.

Anyway, thanks for the info. Gonna keep looking around although my guess is they're very competitive.

Max.

If you mean the front converter seal in the bellhousing, probably 5-700 would be reasonable

The tailshaft seal can be replaced with the trans in the car. Even the tailshaft bushing can be removed with a tool while in the car.
