727 or 904

I have a question. Does the 361 cu engine mate up to a 904, or a 727? I think it is a 727 but not sure. the 361 is considered a "B" engine right? Thanks
 
Not sure what family the 361 falls in, but 904s had two different housings to fit LA or \6 engines.
727s were the same with a case for B engines and another for LA.

You can tell the differance by the shape of the transmission pan!

904 is almost a perfect rectangle
727 has one corner cut off
 
361 is a B engine and the 904 was never made for any of the B or RB series. The 727 was the only modern automatic for this engine.
 
i have the 727 hooked up 2 my 440 n i love it i have a shift kit on it, stall converter, racing shifter, it takes everything i put it through, i think there tough as **** 2 never had a problem with it
