Got a rebuilt trans to toss behind the 440 going into my '66 Coronet. I was giving it a closer look before I bolt it up, and ran across something that may be a bit of a concern? It looks like there was an incorrect torque converter installed in the past, that may have been spinning, and wore a groove on the splines of the input shaft? What do you think? Pic 1 is from trans in question, and Pic 2 is from another parts unit that's laying around. Thanks in advance!

You're talking about where the red arrow is?
I'm thinking it shouldn't hurt anything. Looks factory to me, maybe to hold a clip that would be in the converter, if there would be one. See what the experts say...

Yeah; that's what I was referring to anyway. Just noticed it with the 2 shafts side-by-side... Look forward to the experts giving their blessing! Thanks

I can see the marks you are talking about but I don't see anything that should be an issue. It should be fine to use as is. JMO

Unless your North of 700hp I wouldn't give it a second thought.
