I am looking for a single 7290 U-Joint strap dated 6-4-69.
If you have a pair somewhere close to that date I would also be interested.
I would buy it outright or I have a pair of straps dated 8-13-69 to trade.
In addition I have a 4-27-71 strap available for trade or sale.
Start a private conversation with a picture of your strap or straps
and a price shipped to 46391.
Thanks! John

So how close to the actual build date of a car would these generally be? Real close I bet. I have a few spare sets and a few single oddballs will look later.

4406bbl,
My 1970 GTX has a build date of 8-6-69 or August the 6th 1969.
This was one of the first 1970 GTX's built.
Because of that there were some left over 1969 model year parts used.
But most of the parts are mid June through mid July.
I have those 8-13-69 straps but they are a week after the GTX was built.
So another 6-4-69 strap would be great or something from there through
mid July would work.
Thanks for your reply!

So were these stamped on the line after install or already stamped in the parts bin?

Here are some pics, looks like what you need.

These straps were stamped at the vendor and pulled from bulk on the assembly line.
Because of that sometimes you got different dates to really mix things up!

I wonder why in the hell would a vendor take the time & effort to date stamp a part like that.

For the vendor it was probably lot/batch number.

Same reason parts are date coded today.....lot traceability for quality control. This was often mandated by the OEM customer.

Maybe, but not every part on a car is date stamped. I may be wrong, but I don't think any U joint straps I had were dated.

Still looking for a 6-4-69 strap and a pair of 10-7-69 straps.
Still have 8-13-69 and 4-27-71 for trade.
Thanks! John
