I have had this Charger for almost 37 years wit the original 318, this is the 3rd time for a new water pump due to miles and poor quality parts. This last water pump change I did I have a little seepage on the pump nipple bypass side. its a car quest hose, and no matter how tight, or location of the clamp, its a ss screw clamp, it just has this tiny seepage. Never before have I had this problem. This pump is new a car quest heavy duty, I did notice that the casting is not polished at the hose connection. The intake side is fine, I assume it is the pump finish casting, but why so sensitive is beyond me.

Any input would be appreciated

Put a little Indian head on the nipple & inside the hose.

A polished casting would certainly help, even if it were just sanded smooth would be better than rough casting, you might try that, at least you will know that the rubber on the hose has a good seat and not a pathway over the neck for it to leak. As Dako said, are you using a new hose? If not, it certainly will leak because of the profile of the old neck pressed into the old hose most likely wont let it seat properly.

It is a car quest new hose, it only seeps after I drive it and it cools down over night, such as this morning when I checked before work. Enough to be annoying.

I've seen some pretty bad castings.

Some have a bad offset between the two halves, right through the center of the nipple.

I've also seen some sharp casting flash.

More than once, I've cleaned them up on the grinder before installation.

ok I see the Indian head sealer at the parts store it is for rubber hoses too I will try that thanks!
