73-74 charger bumper fillers

I'm a little confused on the 1973-74 Charger bumper filler pieces front and rear. Several years ago, I bought a reproduction complete set (all 6 pieces) and they are stored away. I just pulled them out and looked at them and they look great. Are they not reproducing them now? There is a little difference in the color but I'd use a flex paint to get them to match anyways. I believe Nacho had this topic posted 10 years ago and that's how I found these. See photos.

Yes, there is a guy who originally was making the front bumper fillers reproductions and being sold on ebay. With a help member of the 3rd gen Charger board we made a group buy for these which were EXACT pieces to the originals.

Then he tried to make the 4 corners. I got a free sample of those (saved somewhere between my stash of parts) and made to sold some others. They weren’t the best result but it was at least a solution. The ones I got are made in silicone, but he tried on urethane later, like the originals. Those weren’t available yet like they are now initially being sold by FMMOPAR on ebay.

He also tried to make the center rear and got to make some ones, but they weren’t successful either. I never got that one. I think it was just the top side without the bottom edge to attach to the bumper? I can’t recall.

Of course no one of the 5 pieces made as an experiment got the metallic reinforcements. We need to reuse the originals.

The front center was the only PERFECT one.

I think that was maybe 13-15 years ago?

Mmm I didn’t recall the later batches being closer to the originals than the set he sent me. Good to know.

The first threads I made about these were before being member of FBBO.

I did get some of the silicone ones but these were much better. I couldn't get the silicone ones to work properly. I don't know what I did with the silicone ones. I wish I could remember where I got these.

That sounds about right.
13-15

I still have mine in the container he sent it in from that group buy.

Still on the fence if I’m going to tuck my bumper or not

Don't tuck. It's a feature of the time capsule. You now have a story to tell. Don't let your idealized self play with you.

My friend, first I’m a 3rd gen proud owner so I know what I’m talking about; second I have been around since 2002 when this Muscle and specially Mopar fever got resurrected thanks to the F&F movie, so I have been living all the ups and downs along these years.

A decent BIG BLOCK and specially 440s (R/Ts & Rallyes) can easilly get on the 30K rate. Even more R/Ts and 72 Rallyes which can go high as 50K depending on conditions and options (Hemis and 6packs up to 100K). Not so much 73/74 Rallyes. But also a 2nd gen SB could be on 30k rate. I dont’t think a 3rd gen 318 could be on that rate, even less if 73/74. Maybe on 20K rate but, 30K? Except outside USA. Sure in Europe you can find a 73/74 318 into 35K EUROS rate. But definitelly not in USA/Canada.

Sure some exceptions can be found quite often.

Sure they are rocketing, but partially because the lack and high prices of 2nd gens no matter the conditions.

Misteriously 1st gens have been always on a more stablish market price without too much highs and lows.
'My friend' sounds like a god father... from the 70's. Your prices are really out dated. Show me a 'decent' mostly original not messed up 440 73/74 under $30k.

I would trust Nacho's numbers when it comes to 3rd gen Chargers. I just sold this one this past June for 28k Some folks may think its to high for the 73's and 74's but I wasn't about to argue with the 3 guys chasing it. Mine was a 73 340 Rallye and it was a Numbers car. I definitely miss it.

He hasn’t read correctly my post. I’m talking a regular 318 which is the average Charger 73/74 Rallye won’t reach the 30K rate ever. More into the lows 20Ks. So the average Charger owner is not prone to spend a lot of money for their restos.

Sure Big Blocks will be higher. Never said they won’t. And I say that on my post.

Sure there areas of the country, seasons or days with higher and lower peaks.

Your former Rallye 340 is a good example of what I’m talking about. Highs 20Ks but just because the specialty of the engine making it a Rallye by default (and matching numbers)

I hope won’t need to quote and bold the specific phrases on my post.

My friend, read it again carefully, please.

In your own words mate: 'Not so much 73/74 Rallyes. But also a 2nd gen SB could be on 30k rate.'

Sure… as I say on previous words of that phrase… againts 71 R/Ts and 72 Rallyes (BB). On same conditions and similar trim as posible when you put side by side any 71/72 Big Block againts a 73/74 Big Block, the 73/74 will be lower on the price rate… anytime!.

And not just big block, also small blocks.
