73-74 Tail Light Housing Chrome

I have a tail light housing (73-74) that has the chrome overlay bubbling and peeling off in places. How do I remove the rest of the chrome so I can paint it without damaging the plastic housing? Thanks for any information.

Good question. There is an oven cleaner out there that will not harm the plastic but will it take the chrome off is the question?

I have used Easy Off on my front grill and it removes the paint but not the chrome. I think a light soda blast may deal with it. I was going to try that but haven't got set up for it yet.

Sandpaper ? 320 &/or 400 grit
