Hey, is anyone making adaptors that'll let you put an axle designed for rubber isolators in a car that's not? I've got a '72 Satellite Wagon, and an 8.75" axle that would fit a '73.
Actually, it's a little more complicated than that. The axle's out of a '72 New Yorker (C-body axle width is correct for a '72 B-body wagon). But I was betrayed by the cruel hand of fate! Mopar apparently started using isolators on C-bodies some time in 1972. But one way or another, I've got a rear end that belongs in a '73 B-body wagon, and I've got a '72 B-body wagon to put it in.
It seems like all it would take would be a simple metallic disk, big enough to fit snugly in the larger hole on the spring pad, and with a smaller hole in the center to properly register the '72s centering bolt. People have been talking about this for years. Has anyone actually done that yet? Or am I going to have to start calling machine shops?
