My Fall project is to remove the cover for the heater core and ac evaporator the tool is not made anyone have experience with this? It has not been off since the car left the factory, I would believe it is full of debris and some new gaskets are in order thanks everyone.

Clips should come off with a carefully placed medium flat blade screw driver.

I will try that, to curve the ends have not started yet I may also use some 1/8 inch stock and bend in the vise, this is the only area of the car I have not taken apart since I purchased in 1980! thanks

Don't pry on them where blade or screw driver makes contact with the body of the heater box, its easy to puncture or break.

Now that I think about it, I think I used 2 screwdrivers. One to spread the clip, and another to pry it off, might have even used a 1/2 or 7/16 wrench.

I was into it so many times trying to get it sealed at the bottom of the gasket that I put nuts and bolts on it instead.
