I have my 73 Charger with factory front disc brakes, can I install a 7 inch wide rim with the 4.5 inch back spacing? I want to purchase newer radials and have 6 inch wheels now with the 3.75 inch back spacing.
thanks everyone.

I'm sure somebody on here has direct experience with '73 Charger wheels, but in general it's the TIRE width ON THE RIM that makes the most difference. If it were me, I'd turn the wheels left/right & take a ruler/tape measure and see how much clearance I had. Also, if you're using the same tire, the sidewalls will "bulge over" less on a wider rim, but still be "roughly" the same width sidewall-to-sidewall.

I know what you mean the rims I have now 6inch have the tires bulging a bit more than I think it should be although the tire store said it was ok to use 225 radials on a 6inch rim, I think I will be fine with a 7inch for clearance on the car,but will be checking today with a tape to see the remaining clearance I have now. The same tire size will be used but with a new 7inch wide rim. it will bulge less of course. thanks!

I had a 73 parts car that was running and driving for a while.

It had 245/50/14 on the front.

What an odd size.

But no rubbing.
