On a ’73, the fuel tank vapor separator (not a manifold) has a single check valve on the vent line nipple. Acts more as a roll over valve really. Additional check valves are located at the four corners of the internal tank lines. Having an intact factory designed evaporative emissions/vent system will not have adverse effects on performance, no reason to omit the “junk”. No filler neck vent lines on a ’73.
