74 Charger Rallye 440 TX9

Got the cooling system closed up. Installed the steering wheel and a seat so I got around the block. Primed the engine again then installed the drive gear and distributor. Getting closer.

Brakes are bleed. This new pressure pot I picked up is awesome! Less the an hour and done.

So I hit a brick wall last weekend and just walked away. Both head gaskets were seeping water after I filled it with distilled water. I had the cooling system full, carb primed and dist set to 15 before. When I was installing the plugs I noticed the seep just under the plugs on cylinders 2 and 7.

The head gaskets are SCE ICS Titan's as I needed a thick gasket to get the compression down. I went bake and forth with SCE tech and he said to run it. I just feared leaks and or over heating during the break in. I spoke to a very helpful guy at flatout gaskets and he was very helpful. So bottom line the top end is coming back apart and will replace the gaskets with Cometic .086 MLS gaskets...

On a positive note I did get the headlamps and housings restored and installed.

The new head gaskets came in and the engine came apart. Found the culprit. On both sides where the leak was is right were the etching for the part number and text "Head side". Notice the H and E is into the water port. I will share this information with SCE and Summit. My supervisor was not impressed.

All back together and on it's feet again. Ignore the dust and funky alignment...

Those were on my 71. New owner didn't want them and I was good with that!

They look great! What size are the wheels and tires? I just ordered a set of Indy u101s for my ‘74 Road Runner.

That makes me feel good, yours looks fantastic. I ordered the same size tire, only difference is I went with a 15x8 front and 15x9 rear.

Pretty dobbie!! Great dogs. Good luck with the car, cool project

It's alive. First fire she rattled like hell. Pulled the torque convertor cover and that fixed that. Great oil pressure, temp, and the timing was dead on.
