Got the cooling system closed up. Installed the steering wheel and a seat so I got around the block. Primed the engine again then installed the drive gear and distributor. Getting closer.
So I hit a brick wall last weekend and just walked away. Both head gaskets were seeping water after I filled it with distilled water. I had the cooling system full, carb primed and dist set to 15 before. When I was installing the plugs I noticed the seep just under the plugs on cylinders 2 and 7.
The head gaskets are SCE ICS Titan's as I needed a thick gasket to get the compression down. I went bake and forth with SCE tech and he said to run it. I just feared leaks and or over heating during the break in. I spoke to a very helpful guy at flatout gaskets and he was very helpful. So bottom line the top end is coming back apart and will replace the gaskets with Cometic .086 MLS gaskets...
On a positive note I did get the headlamps and housings restored and installed.
