Going to replace the 8 1/4 axle with a 8 3/4. Car originally was a 318 now has a 440 and a 727 transmission. Can anyone tell me what drive shaft length should be? Thanks
Wow... I sure can! I just had a helluva time getting this one right. The specified measurement is 51" from the center of the front U-joint to the center of the rear U-joint. That's assuming you are using a BB K member, installed the 8/75 right, etc.
What I did was have the shaft cut to 50.5", which gave me a 1/2" of slop since I was using a motor mount conversion kit and to account for any minor differences in exactly where the 8.34 was. The shaft fits like a glove.
