Hey guys
so I currently have a 1973 dodge charger with a 318, a904, and an 8 1/4 rear with 2.70 something gears. Its a slug.
Im a college student with a pretty limited income, so this restoration is coming together slowly.
I have a 360, stock stroke, new pistons to put me around 10:1, stock heads, comp cams xe268H, headers, edelbrock intake, edelbrock 600 cfm carb, and the rest is stock. All just waiting to be built during the summer. A buddy of mine did his calculations and came up with around 375 hp and 400 lb/ft torque.
first off I wanted to hear some opinions on tranys. Is it worth it to look into a 727 to save myself the headache of balancing a 904, and do you guys think the 904 will last?
Now for the rear end. Will an 8 1/4 last or will it just get torn apart? I want to put 3.55 gears in to wake it up some, but I dont want to go wasting my money on gears that might get torn up with the rear end.
Any input is greatly appreciated
Thanks!
