While I was up north (Western NY) for Christmas, I grabbed an oddball Axle from Dad's back field. It was something my late brother had at one point, but I'm not entirely sure if it's E body or C body. We remember him having a 1970 Challenger or 2, but no one recalls where this axle came from.

Differential: I've disassembled and cleaned it up and it spins nicely. The date seems to be 69 (so likely a 70 car) and a 3.91 gear ration w/Sure Grip.

Housing: Dirty and a lil rust, but no major rust. Measures 46 perch to perch and around 56 3/8" flange to flange.

Axles: Measure around 30" so that seems to indicate C body, but I don't know that I trust tape measures to be accurate within 1/32 over 30 inches. The right side has the adjuster but no locking pawl.

I'll post them for sale after I figure out WIW and find the right C or E body forum to post the housing/axles.

Thanks in advance for any info
Ross

I have a setup almost exactly like that.
The housing has value to an E body guy or a 73-74 B body owner. Most E bodies already had the 8 3/4 axle but many B bodies of the 73-74 era had 8 1/4" axles so those guys seem to look for them.
Overall value on the housing and shafts is not that great given their limited demand. The 3rd member would be worth more if it were a clutch type differential but given it's cone design, it is still worth more than an open diff. Just a guess based on California type swap meet scale: $500 for the 3rd member alone, maybe $650 for the complete setup?
Good luck and Happy New Year.

I agree that price range is in line with the market. You'll see people advertise pigs for $800-1000 but I don't see them sell at that. Maybe a fully rebuilt clutch type.

The housing maybe $200. Axles I don't know. Most guys seem to buy them from Dr. DIFF. with bearings already pressed on. It's hard to put a number on the 3rd member without knowing if it's any good. Happy New Year and good luck.
