Hello everybody.Got question about the rear axle on my 71 rr. Just pulled the car out of storage today and took it for a ride. Im hearing a rear end noise not loud its like a whining noise not sure if its the differerential or the rear brakes grabbing. the axle only has 35k originals miles.fluid has been changed for the first time two years ago. i checked the fluid it looks brown. Is this normal what im hearing?

Does your axle require an additive. You could put the car on jackstands. Run it to try and find noise. Have you taken drums off to check for broken parts. These are just suggestions

Should i add the mopar sure grip additive and see if that helps?

Jack up the rear, put trans in neutral, spin a tire. If the other wheel rotates in the same direction, it's a sure grip. If it rotates the opposite direction, it's not.

Lets say it is a sure grip. Is the mopar additive the only one i can use?

Has anyone ever used lucas oil stabilizer in there rear diffs?reading alot of good reviews on it used in rear diffs.

When I had to add fluid to my rear axle I used Yukon additive. It was recommended by Summit Racing. Make sure you wear Rubber Gloves. Gear oil additive stinks. Try not to get it on your clothes. If you spill any of it you will smell it for a week.
