I’ve told this story before on a different thread, so some of you may have heard this before.
I totally listen to good old school metal. When driving I frequently speed up by accident because I get so wound up by a good song. I’m aware that I have a problem, and I try to allow for it.
So my job requires that I’m frequently on the road to remote communities, in sometimes foul weather. One autumn day I had to drive two hours on a highway that had a half inch of glare ice over everything. You couldn’t walk on it, never mind driving. But I have to go, and I get paid by the hour so I do it. So I’m putting along, white knuckles on the wheel, probably thirty miles per hour. Judas Priest “Screaming for Vengeance” comes on. I make a mental note to relax, calm down, take it easy. By the end of the guitar solo I’m flying down the highway sideways at probably seventy miles per hour, feeling like an idiot because I knew that was going to happen.
