Hi,I bought a gasket kit for the 90 degree oil filter adapter on a Dodge 273 v8. Before I do the job I wanted to ask if these seals/gaskets just get installed as they are,or should the large one be coated with Gasgacinch? To me it would be logical they should go on as is,just clean the surfaces, but I had one guy who claimed to be a mopar expert saying the large gasket should be coated with gasgacinch. Im skeptical on that.
My car seems to be leaking a fair amount of oil from the adapter bolt area and somwhere around the area that goes to the block.
Just went out and bought a 1 3/16" socket to do the job tomorrow, but figured id ask advice here first

You can seal it if you want, with pretty much anything. Would think the nut on an old 273 would be more like 3/4".

Ok,I wasnt sure if sealant was to be used or if it would create an issue if some of it came off later and got into the engine.

Chrysler engineers usually include in the FSM any extra sealants required. Gaskets must be installed on spotless surfaces but, gasket materials and technology have certainly changed a lot since our cars were built new.

Any chance you recall what it says?

Nope, its a huge bolt. When i went under the car i brought my sockets wifh and all my wrenches and didnt have one large enough. Looked up the size on the mopar site and everyone said the same thing 1 3/16" bolt head.

No need to make a mountain out of a mole hill. Either with or without sealant, maybe flip a coin?
