I've been cleaning this old boy up -

Most of the parts are now treated for rust and painted -

I'm a bit concerned about this wear but I suppose it will still work fine -

The hairpin type cotter pin was rust-welded to the pivot though, and broke on removal -

I believe it can be replaced with McMaster-Carr 98395a221 for 3/8 rod. It'll probably cost me close to $20 to get a bag of them, so I thought I'd ask if anyone knows if that is right or has a better pin in mind.

It'd be nice if there was a rebuild kit for these things, but the rest of the hardware is present and useable if not pretty.

Check you local hardware store. Our True Value has lots of stuff.
I get quite a bit of small parts there.
You may find the hairpin clip and be able to just buy one.

That is your shift linkage. That is not kickdown linkage.

I've been by the only two in town, they didn't have it. Fastenal tried to put a store in here, but it failed.

Anything further out will cost me more in gas than buying a bag online.

Shift linkage painted and reassembled! It turns out the McMaster-Carr 98395A223 was the right size hairpin cotter pin. I spent nearly $60 to find that out, but now I can shift again. Maybe this will help the next guy.

I installed my shift linkage tonight, and found a wavy washer -

I'm guessing it popped off the shift linkage when I removed it, and I didn't notice. I guesstimated that it goes here -

- and that's where it currently lives. Can anyone confirm that's right (or wrong?)?
